I associate the image of the Eiffel Tower with freedom, or atleast have after the years I lived in Germany when it felt fancy to say that I was going to Paris for the weekend. On one of my first trips, I bought a little tourist souvenir of the Eiffel tower and kept it in my car to remind me of jumping in puddles by Notre Dame, riding the carousel, and running along cobblestone streets at night on my birthday laughing and hiding behind cars as my friends attempted to spray me with silly string. This painting is a perfect example of a photo that I took while crossing the street. Generally setting up painting supplies in the middle of a busy intersection is not the safest choice, and this was the view that I wanted. This area is one of my favorite parts of downtown Los Angeles and the area has inspired many paintings in the past.
