original painting by Brooke Harker. Artist’s Description: I lived in Tokyo for one summer during college and worked for the Tokyo American Embassy with children. I wandered during my free time, took photos and randomly got on subways without knowing where I was going. My camera at the time was 35mm, so developing 20 rolls of film upon my return to the states was a treat. It was exciting to see what I had captured although generally the reunion with images brought a mix of feelings. Fiori di Roma (Flowers of Rome) celebrates spring in Rome as flowers bloom in front of Santa Maria di Loreto and Trajan’s Market & Forum (near Piazza Venezia and the Collosseum). I finished this painting one year, to the day, after my return from a five month art residency in Italy.
