"Heart of the City"  2009, acrylic & oil on canvas,  36" x  34"

I painted the majority of this with "One Day" by Matisyahu on repeat. I had just read "A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of A Boy Soldier" by Ishmael Beah. A pair of dogs also ran under my easel...never before or since have dogs run under my easel.

"City on A Hill"  2009, acrylic & oil on canvas, 28" x  24"

inspired by catalina and the spirit of giving...

"Orange City"  2009, acrylic & oil on canvas, 46" x  40"

The early layers of this painting began as a tree made of gold.

"Winter City"  2009,  acylic & oil on canvas,  46" x  42"

This began on an evening several women came over to paint...I like to have people over to paint.

"Red Lights City"  2009, oil on canvas, 28" x  28"

"Meadow Lane"  2010, oil on canvas, 24" x  24"

After working on this painting for six months, it found it's voice while I painted and talked on the phone with my Grandma Betty. The colors remind me of her garden over the years...

"Time to Fly"  2009, oil on canvas, 46" x  42"

alternate considerations for this painting include: "coo coo cah town," and "coo coo clock town"

"Shade Garden"  2010, oil on canvas, 24" x  24"

Inspired by memories of my Grandma Katherine's garden.

"Bird On A Wire"  2009, oil on canvas, 36" x  36"

the title reminds me of the lyrics to a song I love by my friend Amy Fisher...although I think her's are "black crow on a wire"

"New Garden"   2010, oil on canvas, 24" x  24"

The title is inspired by the randomness by which my mother would plant a garden...no plan--just joy.
