"Finding Home"  2009, oil on canvas,  46" x 42"

dedicated to the pursuit of finding a home within oneself

"She Climbs"  2006, oil on canvas, 41" x 31.5"

inspired by the strength, creativity and determination of the aerialists in the music group Powder. A blue under layer represented sky and a feeling of hopefulness after seeing the film Tomorrow is Today.

"She Grows"  2007, oil on canvas, 61" x  27.5"

When this painting began I saw an image of a woman who appeared to be holding a child that had died in war...yeah...not so happy. Two years later, I flipped the painting upside down and continued. I now see a pregnant woman. The title reflects both the image and the many lessons learned in the two years from the start to completion of this work.

"Bald Woman"  2005,  oil on canvas,  61.5" x  34"

Created during an era when I spent much time with a painter whose spirit resonated with me the first time I saw his work. When a bald figure emerged in this painting, I didn't want him to think I had painted him so I made the figure more feminine. Although he has since moved away, he will forever hold a place in the history of my development as an artist.

"Sea Smile"  2010, oil on canvas, 49.25" x  49.5"

This painting contains the ocean, inspiration from the song "Fisher's Horn Pipe" by the Back Boners and one of my favorite 2 yr old angels in his Superman Pajamas.

"Seaside Quilt"  2010, oil on canvas, 20" x  16"

"Seaside View"   2010, oil on canvas, 20" x  16"

"Moon Dance"  2006, oil on canvas, 32" x  24"

There are many stories in the history of these layers. In the end, this painting surprised me with a shape that reminded me of the moon.

"Yellow Cab"  2005, mixed media 39.3" x  53" collection of Eric Shah
-based on the life of a quirky ballet dancer who wanted a painting that included a yellow taxi cab, chocolate, and godzilla. He spent hours showing me trinkets from his life and how they each had a specific place in his home. I overlapped 37 abstractions of these details to create my interpretation of his spirit and creativity. The freedom I felt painting the bicycles in this also sparked part of the bicycle series.
