about why I paint bikes
about color stories
about quilted cities
why paint umbrellas?

additional details:
i like water--oceans, rivers, lakes, waterfalls
i prefer drinking luke warm water
i've climbed mt. fuji and run on the great wall of china
i don't like doing laundry when it's dark...
i'm ambidextrous, especially when painting
i love post it notes
i especially love my family
i have the ability to hyperfocus on a task or flit about
i believe that sometimes our greatest gifts are our frailties
i tend to get lost and then find myself over and over again.
i can express mood, events and people through color abstractions
i'm originally from iowa
i like the shape of umbrellas...which explains part of why i've painted so many of them
i believe the beauty in life is in the details.
i love to dance--and could probably teach a class on how to dance like a muppet
i consider yoga medication for a wild spirit
i tell stories through paintings...or they tell stories through me
i develop several groupings of paintings simaltaneously...this is because I'm the type of person that cleans all the rooms in the house at the same time.
i may work on 8-10 different paintings in a day, moving them forward through various stages
some days i only paint with blue...putting blues on every unfinished painting i can get ahold of...another day i might work with reds
i find color healing pretty freakin' cool...that color vibrations affect specific parts of the body.
i study color palette, layers, and freedom of stroke through my work
i notice that intention affects the process...
i've learned to add love to the painting instead of trying to "fix it"...this is a practice
i keep my paint brushes in the freezer...a fun little tip to lengthen their lives...
i'm forever amazed by how many people there are in the world and how unique we each are.
i give thanks to all the creative people who've touched my heart and continue to inspire my soul.
